Why Comic-Con is awesome: Pink Darth Vader!

PinkVader.jpg

Sadly, witz.org missed San Diego’s annual “Nerd Prom” this year, after having attended a few times in the past. If you haven’t gone, it’s always worth the trip. Just avoid Saturday.

We did try to be there in spirit by following the Comic-Con through the media. G4 TV provided some basic lame-o coverage and the comics blogs filled us in on obssessive details.

The highlight of Comic-Con is always the costumed freak-show, so we were tickled, uh, pink to see this insane version of Darth Vader photographed by Fantagraphics. The cigarette is an extra nice touch.

UPDATE: A tipster let us know that Pink Vader is a she and goes by the moniker Darth Vera, and was spotted countless times at Comic-Con, including here, here, here, AND here. And over here.

Darth Vera, we salute you.

UPDATE #2: Boing Boing jumps on the bandwagon.

The Steve Nash Haircut: the longhair nation mourns

‘I just cut it,’ the Suns star said with a shrug. ‘I don’t really have a rhyme or reason. I felt like taking it off.’

witz.org, a diehard Phoenix Suns is a bit sad to see the old locks go. We won’t miss Steve Nash’s in-game hair tuck, where Nash constantly pulls his hair behind his ears. Drove us nuts.

…out like a sucker. witz.org was hoping our favorite French chrome dome could help take the World Cup back to France, but it was not to be. Bummer.

Vincent Chase’s ‘Aquaman’ confuses, thrills, bores.

aquaman.jpg

On Monday morning, a 2 page ad placed by HBO in Variety, the Hollywood trade publication, declared that the new James Cameron film ‘Aquaman,’ starring Vincent Chase, was the ‘biggest box office splash in history,’ bringing in an astounding $116 million in its opening 3 day weekend.

The ad did not mention that this of course took place on the HBO show ‘Entourage,’ which follows the life of an upcoming movie star ‘Vincent Chase’, played by Adrian Grenier.

Cute and clever, but is anyone else as underwhelmed by this season of Entourage as we are? A whole lotta nothin’ has been going on. Can it be we are finally tired of Piven’s over the top Ari?
